Weekly Menu 3/19 – 3/24

Yayayayaya it is grocery day!!!  Does anyone else get this excited?  I am stoked.  We have had an amazing day so far here at Sosa Manor.  Woke up bright and early for a workout.  Before hand we ate some juicy strawberries and I had a Cherry Lara Bar lol.  I love those things, but I keep them at a minimum, I swear!  Got nice and pumped up, then went to Veteran’s Park.  We ran a pretty fast mile; we always keep each other going.  I definitely would have ran it slower if Jason wasn’t by my side.  Yup, that’s right I said by my side — not in front of me hah.  After a mile run we did a good bit of broad jumps.  I’d say the distance of around 50 feet.  We just took turns, bent our knees, swung our arms and exploded in a jump as far as we could over and over again for 50 feet.  It was fun.

After the broad jumps we drove to Crocket Elementary School’s jungle gym and played around with some pull-ups, knees to elbows and squats.   So that’s some good advice right there — if you’re looking to do some workouts where you’re simply using your own body weight but don’t have any equipment…find some around town!  That’s what we do.  We do have a treadmill, free weights, kettle bells, and a weight bench at the house that we use frequently, but sometimes it’s fun just to use whatever you can find.  The kind of workouts we like to do incorporate natural movements.  That’s just another part of our Paleo lifestyle.  What good does it do you to run mile after mile, after mile, after mile?  I mean sure there are times that cavemen probably had to jolt out of the way of a predatory animal or something, but for the most part they lifted heavy things, worked hard, and played even harder.  We like to do movements that are actually going to help us in life – as we grow old.  I want strong arms to hold babies and tremendous thighs to lift endless loads of laundry…is that so wrong?  Keep it real folks.

Got to get goin’ to my second home the grocery store, so here’s what’s in store for this upcoming week.
